Read the murder indictment in Connie Ridgeway case

Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly held a press conference on Tuesday, September 1, to announce murder charges in the 2015 death of Connie Ridgeway.

Ms. Ridgeway was found dead in her home at Rogersville’s Meadowlands Apartments on October 23, 2015.

The Lauderdale County Grand Jury issued a capital murder indictment against Casey Cole White, 37, on two counts — murder during a first-degree burglary and murder for pecuniary (monetary) gain.

Agents from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) worked jointly with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department on the case.

Lt. Brad Potts was the lead investigator for the Sheriff’s Department. Special Agent Heath Moss was the lead investigator from ALEA.

According to District Attorney Connolly, in June 2020, Lt. Potts received a letter from White, who was an inmate at the Alabama Department of Corrections. Lt. Potts interviewed White, during which he confessed to the murder of Connie Ridgeway.

Connolly said statements made by White match evidence at the crime scene that had not been made public.

White claims that he was paid to murder Ms. Ridgeway. Connolly said this aspect of the case remains under investigation.

Casey White was served with the murder warrant Tuesday at the Lauderdale County Detention Center, where he was held without bond.

White was already serving time in prison for a December 2015 crime spree.

In February 2019, a Limestone County jury found White guilty of nine charges, including attempted murder, two counts of kidnapping, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, and breaking & entering a vehicle. The other charges were third-degree burglary, animal cruelty for shooting a dog, and attempting to elude.

A Limestone County Circuit Court judge sentenced White to 75 years in prison in April 2019.
