Splash pad at Rogersville Recreation Park will reopen Saturday

The splash pad at Rogersville Recreation Park will open for the season at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 23.

Rogersville Town Clerk Misty Michael said all individuals and families who come out to the splash pad, children’s playground and other areas of Rogersville Recreation Park are asked to follow CDC recommendations and practice social distancing (maintaining six feet of separation between persons from different households).

Splash pad hours will be 12 p.m. – 9 p.m. Mondays (except for holidays, when Monday hours will be 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.) and 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Michael noted that the splash pad will be available for private parties from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, it will remain open to the public during these hours if no one has made a reservation. Private parties renting the splash pad must also follow social distancing guidelines.

Commercial and public playgrounds (not including playgrounds operated by educational institutions or child day care facilities) and tourist attractions (including water parks) fall under the ‘entertainment venue’ category in the state’s revised health order, which went into effect at 5 p.m. today (Friday, May 22).

Under the revised order, ‘entertainment venues,’ which also includes bowling alleys, arcades, theaters, concert venues and more, may reopen with social distancing (no congregating within six feet of a person from another household) and a 50% emergency maximum occupancy rate for indoor/enclosed venues.

Employees of entertainment venues are also required to wear a mask at all times while in regular interaction with clients or guests.

‘Entertainment venues’ do not include night clubs, which are covered under a different section of the order.

The amended health order is in effect until 5 p.m. on July 3.
