Lexington and Killen will hold wet-dry votes on Tuesday

Voters in Lexington and Killen will have the opportunity to vote on retail alcohol sales on Tuesday, August 25.

Killen’s alcohol vote was authorized by a municipal option petition.

A local law passed by the Alabama Legislature in 2019 (House Bill 493) authorizes Lexington to hold a wet-dry election.

Killen Ballot Wording
The following will be on the ballot in Killen:

“Do you favor the legal sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages within this municipality? Yes _____ No _____.”

This will be the only vote taking place in Killen on Tuesday. All qualifying candidates for council seats and mayor were unopposed.

Lexington Ballot Wording
The following will be on the ballot in Lexington:

Do you favor the legal sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages and draft beer for on-premises and off-premises consumption within the corporate limits of the Town of Lexington each day of the week except Sunday? Yes ____ No ____.”

Lexington voters will also be choosing between incumbent Peggy McGee and Brian Keith McGuire for the Place 4 town council seat.

Only registered voters who reside within the town limits of Lexington and Killen may vote in their respective wet-dry elections.

Polls will be open 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
