Friday deadline to sponsor Rogersville Tinsel Trail tree

The Town of Rogersville is planning a new event to help usher in the holiday season while supporting a worthwhile charitable cause.

The inaugural Rogersville Tinsel Trail will be set up in Heritage Park, located downtown at the corner of Wheeler Street and Lee Street, immediately southwest of the 4-way stop.

For a $100 donation, each sponsor will have access to a 5-foot to 6-foot live fir Christmas tree to decorate and display in the park.

A portion of each sponsorship fee will be donated to the Shoals chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a charitable organization “determined to make sure no kids sleep on the floor.”

Sleep in Heavenly Peace describes itself as “a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need.”

Individuals, businesses and organizations donate bedding and building materials. Alternatively, monetary donations go toward purchasing the supplies. Volunteers team up with local chapters to organize a build day, bringing together people from the community to build beds.

Volunteers deliver and set up the beds for families in need.

Local businesses, civic organizations, church groups, families and individuals are invited to sign up as Rogersville Tinsel Trail sponsors.

Your tree can be decorated using a specific theme; in honor or memory of a loved one; or in any manner that follows the guidelines. Sponsors are encouraged to be creative with their decorations.

Only 30 sponsorship spots were made available.
