Drive-thru vaccine clinics at Joe Wheeler State Park and Cornerstone Church

Two COVID-19 mobile vaccination clinics are being deployed in Lauderdale County, with vaccinations at one location already underway.

One of the trailers will be set up at the First Creek boat ramp area on McLean Drive, Rogersville, beginning Friday, April 9. McLean Drive is the road heading south from U.S. Highway 72 into Joe Wheeler State Park Resort.

The other mobile clinic is located at Cornerstone Church of Christ, 12101 Highway 20, Florence, in the Central community. Vaccinations got underway at this location on Wednesday.

The Lauderdale County Commission purchased two trailers in February for the express purpose of setting up the clinics. Nurses from North Alabama Medical Center will be administering the vaccines.

Hours at both locations will be 8 a.m. – ‘until’ daily (while daily supplies last). Personnel will return each weekday with another supply of doses and will continue administering the vaccine at both locations as long as supply and demand are available.

Both clinics will be closed certain days next week due to staff commitments to deliver second doses at other locations.

Next week, the clinic at Joe Wheeler will be open on Tuesday (April 13), Wednesday (April 14) and Friday (April 16). The clinic at Cornerstone Church will be open Tuesday through Friday (April 13-16). Thereafter, both clinics will be open each weekday unless otherwise announced.

These will be drive-thru clinics. Appointments are not required. Bring a picture ID. (Those without a driver’s license or other picture ID will not be turned away.)

All COVID-19 vaccinations are free (at these and all other vaccine locations).

The Pfizer vaccine will be administered at both drive-thru clinics. This vaccine is available to all Alabamians ages 16 and older. You will receive a card with a reminder regarding your second dose.

The Alabama Department of Public Health has expanded vaccine eligibility to everyone ages 16 and older. (The Moderna and one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccines are currently approved for ages 18 and older.)

Visit the website ALCovidVaccine.gov for the Alabama Department of Public Health’s scheduling portal, walk-in/drive-thru locations and information on other vaccine providers in the state.

Note that the list of ‘all vaccine providers’ on the Alabama COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Dashboard was not complete/up-to-date as of early this week. Call your doctor’s office or pharmacies directly to see if they are currently offering the vaccine.
